Welcome to toonut.com

Home of the Rex and Dexter comic strip featuring a weiner dog Rex and his loyal master Dexter.

Free Cartoons

What is meant is that these cartoons are free of logic, free of common sense, free of whatever it takes to make the world go round in orderly fashion. Free of gravity and all those funny rules. So why do the cartoon characters stick to the ground? Easy. They stick glue to their shoes.

Characters

Dexter

Dexter is the owner of a smart and ambitious dog named Rex. Dexter has trouble with obedience and in disciplining his dog. The reason for this is that he has trouble with his own self-discipline, and in order to gain mastery over his dog, he’ll first need to learn to gain mastery over himself.

Rex

A witty, elegant-mannered, and crafty dog who doesn’t let the leash limit him. Rex sees around boundaries and accomplishes difficult tasks with relative ease. Rex has accumulated himself a small fortune and has built himself a mansion under his doghouse. He has even bought himself a telescope to observe distant places, what could he possibly be up to?

Gramps

Gramps is Dexter’s Grandfather who is in his nineties yet acts like he’s in his twenties. He keeps busy, making every minute count. Gramps keeps Dexter in good company and actually helps him to stay and feel young. “You worry too much.” says gramps, “Cheer up a little and don’t act like an old grump.”

Mary

Dexter has befriended Mary because she works at the local pharmacy where Dexter always goes to get his fix. Dexter is a little paranoid about his health and thinks that he needs to get pills to reduce stress, sleep better, concentrate more, and the list goes on. The pharmacy is usually out of what Dexter wants, so Mary has her stash of placeboes which are just the right medicine.

Pierre

Pierre is Dexter’s cousin.  Every morning he waxes his moustache and curls each end to a fine upwards point, meticulously measuring it’s curvature and diametrical symmetry. He then carefully calibrates its tension and resistance, taking into account the daily weather forecast and menu. There is no place for a moustache gone astray in the course of Pierre Moulette’s typical day.

Two Devils

To be exact, one devil is the real one, and the other is his son-in-training to become a devil. The devil needs to delegate his many tasks and his son comes in handy, doing most of the work. The devils’ jobs are simply to distract our main characters and make their lives more difficult.

Others

The strip also features a dog catcher who chases Rex, a cat who lives with Rex and Dexter, and two homeless men who sit and make observations about the world around them.
